Privacy Policy

Pave HER Way ("PHW," "we," "us," or "our") is a national nonprofit organization committed to funding, mentoring, and connecting women who are building a more just world. We take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

Capitalized terms not defined herein have the meaning set forth in the Terms & Conditions. 

1. What Personal Information We Collect

Information You Provide to Us

  • Contact Information: When you submit a form on our website we may collect the following information you provide directly: first and last name, email address, phone number, or mailing address.
  • Payment Information: If you decide to donate to us, we may collect payment and identity verification information, including contact information and payment method. If you pay using credit card, we and our third-party payment processor may collect financial information such as credit card number and expiration date.
  • Event RSVP Information: When you RSVP to an event, we also collect attendee details including guest names, contact information, and age confirmation. 
  • Applicant Information: When you submit an application for one of our Award Programs or other type of financial aid, grants or awards, we collect certain information about your background, occupation and economic status. We also collect information about your areas of interest such as applying for funding, mentoring, volunteering, or donating. 
  • Communications: We collect certain information provided in your communications with us. For Applicants, we may record your interviews with PHW team members upon notifying you that a recording will be made.
  • Marketing Communications: We collect personal information you may provide in connection with testimonials, surveys, events, webinars, conferences, research, feedback, or a similar events or occurrences.
  • Social Media: We may monitor and collect information from interactions with our social media accounts or other web offerings (such as Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or Google). 

Sensitive Information

Certain Applicant Information (like government-issued identification, proof of residency, proof of income (or financial need), professional credentials and sexual orientation) is considered sensitive information. We use this information to assess your Award Program application and comply with applicable laws. We do not use any Sensitive Information for any purpose outside of the purpose for which it was shared with us. 

De-Identified Data

We may process personal information in an aggregated or de-identified form to analyze the effectiveness of our Services, conduct research, or better understand our users and their needs.

Aggregated or de-identified data cannot reasonably be linked to an identified or identifiable individual. We maintain and use de-identified data without attempting to re-identify it, except as permitted by law to determine whether the de-identification process is functioning properly.

Information Collected Automatically 

We collect approximate location data derived from your IP address, including city, state, zip code, and country. This is an estimate only — we do not collect your exact address or GPS coordinates. This helps us understand the geographic reach of our community. 

  • Internet and Network Activity: Browser type, IP address, pages visited, referring URLs, time on site, as well as information about how you interact with PHW.
  • Usage Information: Information about how you use our Services, such as the dates and times of access, browsing history, search, and other information about how you use the Services.
  • Cookies and Related Technologies: We and our service providers may use Cookies (as defined below) to manage the Services and to collect information about you and your use of the Services. These technologies help us to recognize you, customize or personalize your experience, analyze the use of our Services and to make them more useful to you. 2. Sources of Personal Information

We collect personal information from or about you in the following ways:

  • Directly from you: We collect personal information directly from you, when you interact with the Services, submit an Application or reach out for support or to communicate with us. 
  • Automatically through Cookies and Related Technologies: When you use the Services, we automatically collect information through cookies and similar technologies. This information helps us understand how visitors use our Website and improve our Services. For more information, please see the Cookies and Related Technologies section below. 

3. How We Use Your Information

PHW uses the personal information collected for the following purposes:

  • To communicate with you about Pave HER Way programs, events, and updates.
  • To understand who is interested in our mission and where our community is located geographically.
  • To plan future events and programs based on geographic and interest data. We do not sell your personal information or share it with third parties for advertising purposes.
  • Providing fundraising and donor communications and marketing messages.
  • Operating, evaluating, and improving our offerings, including our Awards Programs.
  • Performing any of our contractual obligations. 
  • To comply with our legal, governmental, or institutional obligations or to exercise or defend our rights or the rights of a third party, including complying with law enforcement or government authority requests and participating in compliance audits. We may also use your information to investigate and resolve disputes, and investigate and resolve security issues.
  • To investigate, prevent, or take action regarding suspected or actual illegal activities, detect or prevent fraud or abuse, or situations involving potential threats to the safety of any person or to otherwise protect us, you, and other users. We may use your information to enforce this Privacy Policy, our Terms & Conditions, to protect the integrity of the Services, or to comply with the law. 

4. How We Disclose Your Personal Information

We may share your personal information with the following:

  • Service Providers: We disclose information, including all categories of personal information, with entities that process information on our behalf. Service providers assist us with services such as data analytics, website hosting, payment processing and technical support. We contractually prohibit our service providers from retaining, using, or disclosing information about you for any purpose other than performing the services for us or if otherwise permitted by applicable law. We may permit them to use information that does not identify you (including information that has been aggregated or de-identified) for any purpose except as prohibited by applicable law.
  • Legal Compliance: If required by law or in response to valid legal requests, such as subpoenas or other government demands, we may disclose your data to authorities.
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or similar transaction involving our organization, your personal information may be transferred to the successor organization.
  • With Your Consent: We may otherwise disclose your personal information when you give us permission or direct us to disclose your information, including as part of the Services. 

5. Cookies and Related Technologies

The Services use automatic data collection technology and other services such as "cookies", "web beacons," "tags" and other similar technologies. A cookie is a small data file that is placed on the hard drive of your computer so that your computer will "remember" information when you visit a website. Web beacons and tags are small strings of code that are used in conjunction with a cookie and that allow us to record activity on the Services. A web beacon allows us to capture certain additional types of information about a visitor's actions on a website, such as a visitor's cookie number, device and browser information, the time, date, duration and number of page views, a description of the page where the web beacon is placed, and details about any items that were purchased.

When you use the Services, these technologies may record and collect personal information, such as information that identifies your computer, tracks your use of our website and collects certain information about you and your surfing habits. This information may include information that identifies your device, IP address, browser type and language preferences, and information about referring and exit pages and URLs, keywords, date and time, what sections of a website you visit, and other similar information concerning your use. This information is used for the purposes mentioned above and to help us serve you better by improving the design of the Services. We also use the technologies mentioned above to improve functionality of the Services and your experience.

6. Your Choices

  • Email: You can unsubscribe from PHW’s marketing or promotional emails at any time by using the "unsubscribe" option in the emails we send.
  • Cookies: You have the option to manage or disable cookies through your browser settings. Please note that disabling cookies may limit certain functionalities of the PHW Website and as further described in the Cookies and Related Technologies section above.

7. Your Privacy Rights

We provide the following rights to all of our users, regarding your personal information:

  • Right to Access: You may request confirmation of whether we process your personal information and access to such information.
  • Right to Correct: You may request that we correct inaccuracies in your personal information.
  • Right to Delete: You may request that we delete personal information we have collected from or about you.

How to Exercise Your Rights: To exercise your privacy rights, please email us at admin@paveHERway.org. 

Verification: We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling your request. We will use reasonable methods to verify that the person making the request is the person about whom we have collected data.

Authorized Agents: Some state laws may allow you to designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. We may require the authorized agent to demonstrate authority to act on your behalf.

EU and UK: If you are located in the EU or UK, you may have additional rights under GDPR including the right to access, correct, or erase your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at admin@paveHERway.org. 

8. Data Security 

PHW takes reasonable steps to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we implement and maintain reasonable physical, technical, and administrative procedures to safeguard and secure information collected. Nevertheless, transmission via the Internet is not completely secure and we cannot guarantee the security of information about you. While no security system is perfect, we strive to maintain robust protections to safeguard your privacy.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

9. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. If you would like us to delete your information, contact us at admin@paveHERway.org .

10. Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically. If we make changes, we will notify you by revising the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy. If we make material changes, we will provide you with additional notice (such as adding a statement to our homepage or sending you an email notification), and in some cases you may have the right to withdraw your consent to further processing.
